My wife purchased a few B.T.A.K knives for a Father’s Day gift. I can’t say enough about how impressed I am with the knives. Having the right tool for the job is important and these knives have proved it. They cut with ease through potatoes, carrots, meat, and other tough foods. Just let the knife do it’s job no need for extra effort when using one of these knives. My chefs knife is by far the sharpest knife I have EVER used and it holds the edge. Very impressed and would highly recommend over any popular name brand store bought knife.

Josh made a great knife for me. It was a surprise gift from my wife. Handle is heavier than the blade. Though this detail does not matter much for a short weapon or tool, it is important when training in Escrima or Arnis, as I did years ago in the Philippines (I was born and raised there). It is known as Kali here in the U.S. Having a heavier handle to blade ratio improves control of the weapon. It does not feel like it is about to fly out of your hand like when you swing a baseball bat.

It also came with a sheath that holds the knife even if you find yourself hanging upside down. Think inversion table. I would definitely buy from Josh again.

I’ve seen a lot of custom knife makers.  Most tend to batch out similar looking products and you don’t really know how much they torture test their product.

I know this guys puts a lot into his knives and testing them.  He takes care to ensure that his heat treating or protective coatings will last and serve their purposes.  He test his knives, literally, to their breaking point!  He leaves them out in the elements to see if they rust, how they rust and what it takes to bring them back.  He puts the edge to tortuous cutting tasks and then checks it’s ability to shave hair!

Every knife is handmade.  You might not really know it from looking at them as their dang near perfectly symmetrical.  You certainly will not get a mass produced knife as sharp as one of these. 

He’s constantly searching for the coolest material to make the handles out of.  He’s constantly striving to hone and master his skills.  These knives are truly made to be used, abused and handed down to the next generation. 

Get one or a set and you won’t regret it!

I Absolutely love my BTAK custom knife. I have one from the first batch ever made, and still like new. I use it all the time! Still love it. So much, I had Josh (BTAK ) make one for my farther in law as a Christmas gift. And boy was he stoked. I 100% recommend a BTAK for any weapon lover or a gift for husband, father,  son.... you won’t be disappointed. Not to mention josh is an awesome human being.

I have been professional mountain guide for the past 21 years and I routinely  operate in extremely unforgiving environments. I consider a good lightweight knife to be an essential piece of gear.
 I have used a number of quality blades over the years but without a doubt the sharpest and most reliable knife I’ve ever used is my BTAK custom tanto. Perfect weight and balance and amazing edge retention. It’s now the ONLY knife I would ever carry into backcountry. Best hard use knife ever!

I was looking for a custom wharncliffe fixed blade.  BTAK developed the Encroacher model at my request and his design.  The Encroacher strikes an excellent balance between size and carry-ability.  The blade has outstanding slicing ability, edge retention and straight penetration ability.  The handle’s shape provides excellent purchase in both forward and reverse grip.  This is a fantastic tough use knife that can do double duty as a EDC and camp knife.
